Positively George Street
Many dream of playing in a rock'n'roll band, but few dreamed that in the early 1980's Dunedin would give birth to a series of rock groups who would transform the New Zealand music scene and win international acclaim.
No 1980's flat party was complete without records by Sneaky Feelings, the Clean, the Chills or the Verlaines blasting out of the speakers- for many of the generation who came of age in the 80's the Dunedin Sound and the Flying Nun record label that brought it to the world encapsulate the spirit of those times.
Positively George Street celebrates that spirit. It is a personal story by an insider of the rise and fall of the Dunedin Sound, centred on one band, Sneaky Feelings, of which the author is a member.
